Boat Tours Sri Lanka was founded with a simple but powerful idea: that the extraordinary waterways of Negombo deserved to be shared with the world — and that sharing them should benefit the people who live beside them.
Negombo’s lagoon has been the lifeblood of local fishing families for generations. We saw an opportunity to connect travellers with this authentic way of life, while creating meaningful, sustainable income for the boat owners who know these waters better than anyone.
What started as one boat and one guide has grown into a community of local operators, all united by the same belief: that the best travel experiences are ones that leave a place better than they found it.

I grew up watching the fishermen of Negombo leave before sunrise and return by midday, their boats loaded with the morning’s catch. The lagoon was always the heartbeat of this town — but the people who depended on it were rarely the ones who benefited when tourists came to visit.
I founded Boat Tours Sri Lanka to change that. Not just to offer a beautiful experience — though I believe ours is truly special — but to build a model where tourism serves the community it happens in.
